Job Description

DESCRIPTION

If you thrive in a challenging, evolving, and fast-paced environment, this role is for you! We are looking for an exceptional Human Resources leader to drive the development and implementation of HR strategies impacting various PXT organizations, particularly Devices and Services PXT. The ideal candidate isn't just looking for another HR role – they're seeking to make their mark on an industry in transformation. Your experience should demonstrate success in driving change at scale, with a track record of guiding senior leaders through complex organizational challenges. You'll bring both the strategic vision to anticipate future needs and the practical expertise to execute flawlessly on day-to-day talent operations. This role requires occasional travel (15-20% per year).

This position will support three PXT Vice Presidents (VPs), with one serving on the PXT Leadership Team (LT). Given the role's complexity and scale, we are only considering existing L7s at this time. This role will be based in Seattle, near the Day 1 building.

Key job responsibilities
As Principal HRBP, you will drive strategic human capital initiatives in an AI-enabled environment, combining hands-on leadership with data-driven decision making. This role requires both independent judgment and collaborative skills to partner effectively with professionals across all levels of the organization. You will be responsible for developing and executing short and long-term workforce strategies, translating business objectives into actionable HR capabilities, and leading global initiatives including organizational design, workforce planning, and location strategy. A key focus will be shaping three-year operating plans (3YOPs) and fostering an AI-enabled culture of innovation.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate superior analytical capabilities to deliver data-driven recommendations, exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to thrive in ambiguous environments while adapting to emerging AI technologies. You must possess a strategic mindset to anticipate future business needs and challenges, along with experience making complex trade-offs while maintaining focus on business outcomes. This is a transformative role at the intersection of HR strategy and technological innovation, offering significant opportunity to shape the future of work

This role will support three distinct organizations:

(1) Devices and Services PXT - This team supports and drives PXT strategies for the Devices and Services Organization, which includes Ring, Kuiper, Alexa+, Hardware, and many more innovative products and services. This PXT team is partnering with a strong product and services organization that needs PXT to innovate, break down silos, and work backwards from the customer to meet demand.

(2) Global Specialty Recruiting (GSR) - This team hires academics, executives, principal engineers, and scientists. This organization is on a journey to understand how AI will impact our current workforce, leadership roles, the candidate experience, and recruiter productivity.

(3) Senior Leader Executive Development PXT - This team supports and innovates for the executives' profiles across Amazon through the entire employee lifecycle (e.g., onboarding, development, lateral movement, promotion, etc.). This consists of talent management products that scale across Amazon.

Each of these organizations is led by a seasoned VPs, which will require strong influence, backbone, business acumen, and credibility (Earn Trust) at all levels. This role requires wearing multiple (sometimes conflicting) hats in supporting these distinct organizations. Another pillar of this role is developing and owning goals at the PXT HR level and scaling those solutions with technology and AI enhancements. This role works closely with other PXT teams, Program Managers, and Science resources to drive key initiatives in areas such as organizational design, executive coaching, location strategy, and testing and validating new experiments impacting the PXT employee experience.

Interested and qualified internal candidates are encouraged to request an informational through Ivy. Please utilize the "Request Informational" on job post to request an informational with the Hiring Manager.

A day in the life

• Given the timezone differences, collaborate with your EMEA and APJC PXT partners to understand employee challenges in various regions related to the business and propose solutions that scale globally.

• Read up on business OP1s/SPS/QBRs to understand the priorities, north star goals, and business landscape. Take those insights and start drafting your global people strategy.

• Partner with the business to define the workforce for the future by identifying the ideal state and how you and the appropriate stakeholders will work backwards to achieve success metrics.

• Partner with recruitment to design innovative hiring strategies for critical roles and execute on location strategy.

• Attend product reviews to deepen understanding of the longer-term vision and the talent levels needed to achieve it.

• Learn and Be Curious by adopting AI tools into your daily work and finding ways to educate your peers, business leaders, and stakeholders on integrating AI into business DNA.

• Bring actionable insights and strategies to your businesses' staff calls to drive ownership and influence.

• Coach leaders through organizational changes and growth opportunities. Drive inclusive leadership practices through team development sessions.

• Own and lead projects within your remit as well as at your manager's and skip-level's remit

Each day will likely bring a mix of opportunities that we know how to approach, and others that will require deeper collaboration, inspection, planning, and creativity.
